Looking for cheap ways to update your home? Here are just a few that won’t put a huge dent in your bank account.
1. Paint Front Door
One simple way to update your home is by painting your front door. Buying a new door can be pricey so take our advice and use new paint instead. Go for a darker color, such as black. In addition to looking brand new, a black front door could increase the price of a typical U.S. home by 2.9%.
2. Paint Kitchen Cabinets
Buying new kitchen cabinets can cost a fortune. Instead, choose to repaint your existing cabinets. We recommend using a “tuxedo cabinet” technique. This type of cabinetry uses two tones, with the floor cabinets being one color or shade and the upper wall cabinets another. If you don’t like this look, try using a dark color such as a deep brown or deep gray. If you’re looking for something even more flashy, try a bold accent color.
3. Replace Lighting Fixtures
Purchase new fixures for your main rooms (e.g. kitchens, living spaces). These small upgrades can make your home feel more elegant without complete remodels.
